Marma Therapy is similar to acupuncture or cupping in that it helps to maintain health by cleansing blocked energy. Marma literally means the likelihood of death or damage when these points are inflicted, it also means hidden or secret. Marma point is a juncture on the body where two or more types of tissue meet such as muscles, veins, ligaments, bones or joints.

An ancient Ayurvedic treatment for specific areas of the body utilizing dough bastis that contain medicated herbal oils or decoctions within its center. The preparation and application is unique for each person and condition. Great for conditions related to low back, heart, thyroid, adrenals, etc. These localized basti treatments involve applying warm sesame oil to a specific contained area and allowing it to penetrate for 20 to 60 minutes changing out the oils as they cool. This nabhi basti, is applied to the umbilical region. The nabhi or navel marma is the vital center where all of the Ayurveda’s 72,000 nadis (subtle energy pathways) converge. Hot oil here works on the solar plexus and balances the digestive fire. Use it for indigestion, gas and constipation. Emotionally, it facilitates the release of deeply seated emotions.
